It was a moment of excitement for thousands of youths and women in Giade Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Northeast Nigeria, when a gubernatorial hopeful, Farouk Mustapha received more than 9,000 decampees from the People’s Democratic Party back to the APC.
The decampees numbering about ten thousand were from the People’s Democratic Party as well as New Nigeria People’s Party, People’s Redemption Party and Green Party of Nigeria.
The decampees said they were disenchanted with the PDP led government under Governor Bala Mohammed, hence their resolve to leave the party.
Led by a former House of Assembly Candidate in Giade Local Government, Abubakar Nawaila Jarman Giade, the defector vowed to support the governorship aspiration of Farouk Mustapha, whom they described as “credible and promising politician.”
“An indication of a good Friday usually starts beckoning from Wednesday; we have seen the agility, wisdom and patriotism in Farouk Mustapha, that is why thousands of different party loyalists are defecting to join the APC just because of him.
“And in the next couple of months to come, you will see a very formidable movement that has resolved to mobilize for him and by God’s grace come 2023, he shall be our next governor in Bauchi State”, said Jarman Giade.
Receiving the decampees, Farouk Mustapha tasked them to key-into the ongoing party registration to obtain their membership cards.
“If you like Farouk or Jarmai or whoever that is interested in contesting, you have to obtain your party membership card, because that is the only way you will elect credible people to lead the party.”
