Nigeria: At Last, Dialogue, Peace, Forgiveness Now Reign in Kajuru

Reports say peace is gradually returning to Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria, which has been engulfed with sectarian conflicts and crisis.
  This relief follows the efforts of the state governor, the local government chairman, arising from  peace building initiated by the District Head of Kufana, Chief Titus Dauda who met with village representatives and Fulani herdsmen within his jurisdiction.
 The meeting brought together locals from gefe, kallah, doka and makyalli villages with their Fulani’s counterparts where dialogue, forgiveness and peace were extensively agreed to be the only way out.
 At the end of meeting the communities promised to live together in peace with one another.
It all started on Tuesday 22/9/2020 for the first time in six months, the weekly Doka market was opened where Fulanis and the adaras met and transact business together.
One of the Fulani’s in the market, Jauro adamu appreciated God for restoring peace that he could come with his family to the market.
Also, Isiaka Hammed appreciated law enforcement agencies , the Kaduna state governor, the LG council chairman,Cafra Caino and the District head of kufana for their tireless efforts in the peace process and prayed that it has come to stay in Doka villages.
The village head of Doka, Jonah Luka praised  the District Head for his foresight in involving the communities to find solutions to their problems.
The District head of Kufana chief Titus Dauda  who couldn’t hide his joy commended the communities for finding solutions to their problems and urged them to sustained the tempo.
He thanked all the security agencies and the executive chairman,  Cafra Caino for his wisdom.
As part of the peace process, with the approval of the state governor, the District Head of Kufana on Thursday 24/9/2020 administered  the oath of office to the new substantive village heads of Afogo, Mr John dodo and that of Kufana , Mr  Aminu Gajere .
 The two villages had  been without  substantive heads after the demise and the seat had been vacant with acting heads.
The District head charged the new village heads to be fair to all in respect of tribe or religion, saying they shiuld be loyal, law abiding and to respect all constituted authorities.
 He appreciated the acting village heads for holding brief and for their support and hard work.
Responding on behalf of the new village heads, the village head of Kufana, Mr Aminu Gajere appreciated the Governor, Kajuru LGA chairman and the District head for believing in them and for trusting  them with leadership responsibilities.
He promised  that they would  be loyal and obedient to all constituted authorities and also discharge their duties without fear or favour and within the ambit of the law.
The district head then presented them,  their letters of appointment.
 Speaking on behalf of the local government chairman, the vice chairman, Hon James Jagaba called on the people of the two communities to support the new village heads.
He advised them to hold the tradition of the people as custodian of culture and wished  them peaceful and development reign.
 The District Head  eulogised the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Governor  Nasir Elrufai for believing that peace is possible and for his support in bringing lasting peace to the area.
