The Member Representing Ajingi, Gaya and Albasu in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, says, the ongoing Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project is in the right step to fast tracking re-industrialisation of the region and the country at large.
Gaya, a Member of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) made this known in a statement made available to AFRICA PRIME NEWS by his media aide, Abba Dukawa.
The Member explained that the AKK Project will complement federal government’s effort of economic growth and enable Nigeria’s migration from current mono-economy to a diversified one, adding that NNPC was transitioning towards becoming an Integrated Energy Company to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s economy diversification plans.
He noted that construction of these critical enablers were in line with NNPC’s responsibility of implementing the National Gas Infrastructure Blueprint, which was part of the Nigerian Gas Master Plan.
According to him, AKK Gas pipeline was a section of Trans-Nigerian Gas Pipeline under the gas infrastructure blueprint designed to enable the industrialisation of Eastern and Northern parts of Nigeria. The project would also enable connectivity between the East, West and North, which is currently non-existent.
Mr. Gaya further said, the project will pave way for development of gas-based industries, as well as independent power plants, highlighting that industries in Abuja, Ajaokuta, Kano and Kaduna which require electricity to function will work at full capacity.
He said, with the AKK Project, Kano city would also regain its lost glory of being the second most industrialised state in Nigeria and the gateway of business in West African sub-region.
