Comoros: National Transition Council (NTC), Reacts To Soilihi Mohamed’s Arrest and Defection.

The National Transition Council in Comoros has reaffirmed its commitment to the principles and values defined in its Charter.

It also reaffirmed its will to pursue with determination its commitment to the people.

The Council made the assertion in a statement issued in reaction to Soilihi Mohamed’s Arrest and Defection.

The statement made available to AFRICA PRIME NEWS said Mr Soilihi Mohamed was arrested on March 28, 2019 for refusing to recognize the disputed re-election of Azali Assoumani and for proclaiming the establishment of a National Transition Council (NTC).

“Soilihi was released Monday and he gave up his critics spectacularly to suddenly pledge allegiance to the regime.

“He signed a statement in which he “congratulates (…) Azali Assoumani for his reelection” and “disassociates” the NTC denouncing an “election hold-up”.

“The NTC with Mr. Soilihi Mohamed refused to recognize Azali Assoumani’s victory on the grounds of massive fraud, largely confirmed by Comorian civil society and international observers.

“We take note of the statement made by Mr. Soilhi Mohamed and say that the NTC reiterates its commitment to the principles and values defined in its Charter and also affirms its will to pursue with determination its commitments to the Comorian people “, the statement concludes.
