Nigerians on pilgrimage in Israel on Saturday held a special prayer session for their country in Jerusalem, asking God to intervene in the affairs of their land.

Various church leaders on the trip took turn to pray on issues ranging from peaceful co-existence to peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections.

They also prayed for the revival of the nation’s economy, as well as agricultural and manufacturing sectors.

The prayers which were conducted under the auspices of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), the agency saddled with the responsibility of coordination Christian pilgrimage to Israel, had in attendance about one thousand Nigerians currently in Israel for pilgrimage – they came from Abuja, Adamawa, Lagos, Oyo and Plateau states, among others.

Some Nigerian Church leaders present at the prayer session include President, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Rev. Dr Dachollom Datiri, President of EYN, Rev Joel S. Billi, Chairman of Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Chairman of Oyo State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Very Rev. Ademola Moradeyo and Bishop Jonas Katung, among others.

In an exhortation, a member of NCPC Board, Rev. Israel Akanji, tasked the pilgrims to appreciate God for the privileged of participating in the exercise, saying the journey to Israel is that of an encounter with God.

Reading from the book of Luke chapter 24 verses 25 to 28, the preacher tasked the pilgrims to open their hearts to God for a special visitation.

“When we come here we should be open hearted so as to have an encounter with our Lord Jesus Christ.”

He tasked the pilgrims to trust God for the prayers offered, saying God answers all prayers offered in accordance with His will.

The Board member emphasised that Christian pilgrimage is beyond visiting places where Jesus walked, but also incorporate prayers which every pilgrim is expected to participate in.

In a chat with AFRICA PRIME NEWS, a pilgrim from Abuja, Mr. Alex Paman said the pilgrimage has uplifted him both Physically and spiritually.

“Most of the things we have seen here physically are a discovery made through excavations, meaning they are real.

“These are the real places where our master Jesus Christ went through in His lifetime — from His birth to His ministry, His suffering, His death and His resurrection

“All these things he went through for us, for our salvation and we are waiting for his return.

“As Christians, we are expected to live in love, forgiveness and perseverance. Trials and temptation will come, but the Holy Spirit is here to help us win the race.
