Gombe State Governor, northeast Nigeria, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has enjoined retired Permanent Secretaries in the country not to relent in contributing ideas to the development of the nation.
Dankwambo made the call at the first National Conference of representatives of retired Permanent Secretaries in the 36 States of the federation held in Gombe on Tuesday.
The Governor who spoke through the State Head of the Civil Service, Adamu Abubakar also called on the serving Permanent Secretaries to respect the retired ones.
He commended the state chapter of the association for organizing the conference which he described as timely when the states civil service was lacking focus.
Earlier, Gombe State branch Chairman of the Association of Retired States Permanent Secretaries, Daudu Abdussalam said the aim of the conference was to map out modalities for the formation of the national body of the association.
Abdussalam pointed out that the  formation of the national body is not for the interest and benefit of the contemporary States retired Permanent Secretaries alone, but states Permanent Secretaries unborn.
“I am sure when formed the association would be a very strong force in the affairs of the country. It is envisaged the potentials will definetly impact positively on the lives of Nigerians in general”.
He said the civil service being the their master piece and veritable constituency, he was confident that when the retired Permanent Secretaries come together, they would play a great role in advisory capacity.
It will also stamp out vices and reposition the civil service for good governance, transparency, accountability and due process to enable it catch up with the developing world.
