Women under the aegis of North-West Women Movement for Buhari 2019 have began a massive mobilization for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the forth coming 2019 election with a ground-breaking ceremony in Katsina State at the weekend.

The ceremony which began from the polo ground and ended up at the civil service commission complex had over 20, 000 women from across the North-West zone in attendance as well as some governors’ wives and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, wife of Katsina State Governor, Hadiza Masari, said they are drumming support for Buhari due to his purposeful leadership and all round development of the country at large, including war against corruption, security and women empowerment.

The Governor’s wife expressed optimism of the victory of the President in 2019 and his ability to deepen his successes and achievements, adding that the rally in his support by the women was another landmark in the political history of Nigeria.

She then called on women in the country to be politically inclined, support the President and as well always take their place in the society by proper upbringing of their children and shun all anti social vices.

In her remarks, wife of Katsina State Deputy Governor and the Coordinator of the women movement,  Mariatu Manir Yakubu, said President Buhari has been gender friendly and has through many initiatives and policies put smiles on the faces of the women.

Therefore, she said, the President deserves their full support in the 2019 election because his reelection will be a blessing for the women folks not only in the North West or the Northern part of the country alone, but the country in general.

Mariatu said plans are underway to visit all the North West states to stage mega rallies and grassroots mobilization for the President’s re-election as well as the empowerment programme of the women.

Also speaking, the Minster of Women Affairs,  Aisha Jummai AIhasan, hailed the turnout of women at the rally as a clear demonstration of their support to APC led government and stressed the need for more support for Buhari and other patriotic leaders.

The minister, represented by the wife of former Governor of Kogi State, Ambassador Aisha Abubakar Audu, advised women to acquire skills and trades to actualize their potentials to become self-reliant in the society.

On her part, the wife of Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Halima Samaila, who launched the empowerment packages disbursed to about 3000 women in Katsina State, said the gesture is part of the contributions of the movement to APC led government’s commitment to empowering women to be self reliant.

The Kebbi Deputy Governor’s wife noted that the association which was formed to support Buhari and other candidates of the APC in 2019 general elections plans similar empowerment packages for women in all the North Western states aside providing humanitarian services to the less privileged persons.
