Ungwan Dosa dual carriageway under construction

Communities In the metropolitan city of Kaduna northwest of the country have lauded the physical developmental projects, especially roads being executed by the El-Rufa’i led Administration.

The communities were voicing out their minds during a tour of some of the projects in various parts of the city by a team of journalists guided by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Housing, Murtala Dabo to asses the performance of the Administration which came to power about 3 years ago.

The tour which looks like a fact finding exercise provided an opportunity for members of the team to see for themselves and interact with the benefitting communities.

Programmed to cover the three Senatorial zones in the State, the Tuesday tour .took the team to Ungwan Sanusi, Tudun Wada, Barnawa, Ungwan Rimi, and Ungwan Dosa, all within the metropolitan city in the Central Senatorial zone.

The road project at Ungwan Sanusi  is made up of 120 Streets covering a total of 11.6km scheduled to be completed before June, while that of Tudun Wada along Abattoir Way with a bridge and drainage  has been completed at a cost of 105 million Naira.

Members of the community, on sighting the team trouped out in their numbers to express their joy over the project.

The leader of the Abatoir community, Sarkin Pawa, Suleiman Sabo told  journalists that they would ever remain grateful to the Administration for the project, describing the Governor as God sent.

At  Barnawa, Southern part of the metropolis, seventy eight (78) roads were embarked upon, out of which 69 were completed, while the remaining 9 are at various stages of completion.

The road Network which covered 23 .8  km were constructed at a cost of over 2 billion Naira, according to the Permanent Secretary.

Thirty Streets road network are also being constructed at Ungwan Rimi covering 6.7 km at a cost of over eight hundred million Naira  and  has reached 70%  completion stage.

At Ungwan Dosa area  where a ring dual carriageway is beyond constructed. ,the Permanent Secretary described it as a great relief to the residents describing the area as the most congested part of the metropolis.

Part of the dual carriageway called College Road, is being constructed at a cost of 1.2 billion Naira including compensation paid to residents whose structures were affected by the project.

Some of the residents who were looking so excited, told Journalists that they had never thought that the College Road could be turned to what it now looks .

“With this  road  being constructed and tarred, we can now say that Kaduna is changing” the residents said.

And in it’s determination to ensure free flow of traffic on the highways, a  71,000 sq metre Trailer park is being  constructed through Public Private Partnership at Maraban Jos axis on Kaduna-Zaria road at a cost of 2.7 billion Naira.

The trailer park will have facilities including hotels, restaurants among others.

Other projects visited included the world class broadcasting house being constructed for the State radio and television stations.

The two storey edifice costs the State government 1.5 billion Naira and to be equiped at the cost of about 2 billion Naira.

The Managing Director of the  broadcast stations, Ibrahim Samaila Ahmed told the team that the entire operations of the organization are being çomputerized  in line with the vision of the present Administration in the State.

Contractors handling some of the road projects were in agreement with government officials on the tour, that some of the projects would be ready for commissioning as part of activities to mark the three years in office of the Administration.
